Water depth record in subsea oil production technology

July 17, 1997 ABB has set a record in subsea oil production technology by successfully installing a subsea tree at a depth of more than 1,700 metres (5,524 feet) in the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil. The tree was installed for Petrobras by ABB Vetco Gray, who are concluding a technological agreement with Petrobras for the development of horizontal trees for 2,500 metres (8,200 feet) water depth. To date, 39 ABB Vetco Gray diverless guidelineless trees have been ordered for the Campos basin, with 29 delivered.
