Enron to erect 480 MW power plant in Mato Grosso
July 11, 1997 Enron will start erecting a thermal plant in Cuiaba (Mato Grosso, Brazil) within the next 60 days, after having won an auction arranged by state-owned Eletronorte. The plant is scheduled to reach a production of 480 MW over a 3-year term at R$ 41.10 per MWh. It will demand investments of $ 500 mm and will make use of the natural gas imported from Bolivia. Enron will manage the plant over a 20-year term. With the plant, the Mato Grosso state government will start exporting energy within a 40-month term.
