DPC completed 14 wells in 1996

July 8, 1997 The Dubai Petroleum Company (DPC) completed 14 oil wells in 1996, reaching a total of 422 wells, compared with 408 in 1995, the company said in its annual report for 1996. According to the report, during the year, 7 wells were drilled and completed in the Fateh fields and 3 wells in south-west Fateh field, yielding good results, while recompletion and rehabilitation work was carried out on another 15 wells.
DPC operates the Fateh, south-west Fateh, Falah and Rashid offshore fields on behalf of the Dubai government.
Fateh, discovered in 1966, is the largest and oldest of the 4 DPC oil fields. The Falah D development project, which began in 1993, continued during 1996. The report pointed out that this development was the first in the world to exclusively utilise horizontal oil producer and water injectors. As part of this project, the Falah D-10 producer and FC-15W water injector were drilled and completed and 2 horizontal wells were also completed in the Falah B development.
No significant development work was performed on the Rashid field in 1996, the report added.
