Amoco Canada to expand its Kerrobert NGL pipeline

Jul 29, 1997 02:00 AM

July 17, 1997 The National Energy Board has approved an application from Amoco Canada Petroleum Ltd. on behalf of Dome Kerrobert Pipeline Ltd. and PanCanadian Kerrobert Pipeline Ltd. to expand its Kerrobert natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline and related facilities in south-western Saskatchewan.
Amoco will construct a 155 km (96 mile), 10 inch NGL pipeline extending from the NGL extraction plants at Empress, Alberta to Interprovincial Pipe Line Inc.'s transmission line at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. The liquids pipeline transports all of the NGLs from the Amoco, the Empress Gas Liquids Joint Venture and the PanCanadian extraction plants, plus a portion of the liquids produced at the Petro-Canada plant.
The expansion project is to twin the existing 8 inch pipeline to meet forecasted increases in NGL production from the Empress extraction facilities. The new pipeline will increase throughput capability for NGLs by approximately 49,920 bpd to 116,850 bpd.
Amoco estimates the capital cost of the project to be approximately $ 23 million. The projected in-service date for the expanded facilities is November 1997.
