Jul 23, 1997 02:00 AM

July 1, 1997 British Gas Exploration and Production Plc, or BG, has found gas in an offshore area of northern Egypt. The small area tested has more than 25 million cubic feet of high quality gas, BG said. The well is in the Mediterranean sea, 90 km east of Port Said.
The North Sinai concession is a joint venture between BG and Amoco Egypt.

BG made a similar discovery in Egypt at the Rosetta concession, in the Mediterranean sea.
