June 29, 1997 A delegation from Petroleum India International (PII) has been visiting Nigeria for talks to further expand co-operation with the African country in the oil industry. The Indian delegation, led by the PII executive chairman, S.K. Jain discussed with the Nigerian side on the establishment of a joint venture for business co-operation and technological exchange.
As a consortium of 10 public sector petroleum companies, the PII is said to be responsible for technical back-up for the operation and maintenance of the Port Harcourt refinery, one of the four major refineries in Nigeria. The PII also reportedly maintains a contract with the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation for training the latter's personnel.
