Competition in power supply to Chile
June 24, 1997 Three projects are competing to develop power generation from Salta, Argentina, up to the North of
Chile.
Chilgener is moving ahead the Electroandes project, to set up gas fed power plants at Salta, and extend a $ 230 mm
transportation line up to Chile to supply mining projects there.
CMS Energy and Endesa are engaged in the Gas Atacama project, a $ 650 mm investment to bring natural gas through
pipelines.
The Norgas project is moved by Electroandina together with Techint, who plan a gas pipeline from Salta.
