A gas pipeline from Russia across Yugoslavia.
June 24, 1997 Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Marjanovic and Stepan Derezhov, representative of the Russian Gazprom
company, have agreed on the start of the construction of a gas pipeline branch, which is to run from Russia across
Yugoslavia.
According to a Serbian government announcement, the Jugorosgas joint firm is to begin to build the gas pipeline
branch in autumn this year. The Russian and Serbian sides are to invest $ 53 million each in the realisation of the
project.
The Serbian Premier and the Gazprom representative also discussed terms for barter, on the basis of which the
Yugoslav side pays for the supply of gas from Russia. It was a question of broadening the range of farm products,
which Serbia supplies to Moscow City and Region under a contract with Gazprom.
