Japanese PVC resin production up in May
June 21, 1997 Polyvinyl-chloride (PVC)-resin production in May increased 9.1 % on the year to 224,650 tons, the 22nd straight month to show a year-on-year increase, according to the Japanese PVC Association. Including exports, May shipments rose 3.8 % on the year, to 203,209 tons. Domestic shipments rose 1.5 % over the same period, to 157,761 tons. Domestic inventory as of the end of May 1997 was 130,217 tons, a 13 % increase over last year. Production of polyvinyl monomers, rose by 7.2 %, to 228,232 tons.
