Three bidders for Pemex $ 1 bn nitrogen plant

Sept. 3, 1997 Three consortiums turned in bids to build an approximately $ 1 billion nitrogen plant for Mexican Pemex, it said.
It said in a statement that the winning bidder for the project will be required to produce and transport up to 1.2 bn cfpd of nitrogen. The nitrogen will be injected in the lucrative Cantarell oil field in a technique that boosts crude and natural gas output. Pemex chief Adrian Lajous has said the project will be the largest of its kind.
Pemex said the three consortia were:
• Bufete Industrial, Dresser Industries , Nova Gas International, USX-Marathon Group's Marathon Oil Co unit, Praxair Inc and L'Air Liquide SA. • BOC Holdings, Empresas ICA, Fluor Daniel, Linde AG, Marubeni and Westcoast Energy (W.TO)• U.S. Shell Oil Co, Air Products and Chemicals, Enron Corp, Itochu Corp and Mitsui.
