Oil production in Russia for January-June 1997 slightly up, gas down

Russia produced 151.126 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate in January to June 1997, which was 0.5 % more than in the same period last year. The production of oil, condensate not included, exceeded 146.819 million tonnes, the State Statistics Committee told.
LUKoil, Russia's largest oil producer, extracted about 26.3 million tonnes of oil in the first half of 1997, up on last year's figures by 4.72 %. Yukos, Surgutneftegaz, Tatneft and Sidanko extracted respectively 17.6 million, 16.7 million, 12.2 million and 10.2 million tonnes of oil and condensate.
Joint ventures continued to increase oil production in January to June 1997, putting out about 8.948 million tonnes of oil, or 14.8 % more than in the same period last year.
In the first half of this year, Russia produced about 282.083 billion cubic meters of natural gas, or 94.9 % of last year's volume for the same period. Gazprom produced about 276.356 billion cubic meters of gas in January to June.
