Egypt's Wadi Sahl onshore field inaugurated

Egypt has inaugurated the Wadi Sahl onshore oil field, located 11 km west of Hurghada on the Red Sea, which is expected to produce 20,000 bpd.
Egypt's oil minister, Hamdi el Banbi, said the field included 4 producing wells.
He said 12 foreign companies had been shortlisted for new oil and gas concessions in the country for 1998, including four operating for the first time in Egypt.
The four include 2 from Canada, 1 from Ireland and 1 from the UAE.
Total investments in the new concessions will reach $ 221 mm.
El banbi noted that 65 wells were expected to be drilled in the new concessions.
