An advisory team of Price Waterhouse and Wood Mackenzie has been selected by the Israeli government to advance the issue of tenders for the selection of companies to form a new gas company responsible for the development of a gas industry in Israel.
Israeli Minister of National Infrastructure, Ariel Sharon, announced the selection of the Price Waterhouse/Wood Mackenzie team by the National Infrastructure Tender Committee. The team will serve as economic and technical consultants to the Government for the purpose of selecting the winning tender.
The Price Waterhouse/Wood Mackenzie team was selected from a short list of six. Both Price Waterhouse and Wood Mackenzie have international reputations and are experienced in carrying out similar work in other parts of the world.
The Government of Israel wishes to establish a new Israeli gas company (IGC) which will design, finance, build, operate and maintain the new transmission and distribution systems, and be responsible for the purchaseand sale of natural gas in the country (other than those volumes required by the state electricity company, Israeli Electricity Company, (IEC) who will purchase their requirements separately).
