Oman oil output up 1.7 % in 1997

Jan. 8, 1998 Oman's cumulative oil production in the first 10 months of 1997 reached 272.348 mm barrels, according to figures from the Ministry of National Economy.
The 1997 figure was 1.7 % higher than the 267.837 mm barrels registered for the first ten months of 1996.
Oman's exports of crude oil in the same period in 1997 reached 252.581 mm barrels, against 244.805 mm barrels in the first 10 months of 1996, showing an increase of 3.2 %.
Japan was the biggest importer of Omani crude in the period January-October 1997, with 72.210 mm barrels, slightly down on the figure of 75.693 mm barrels registered for the first ten months of 1996.
In second place was Thailand, which imported 58.532 mm barrels of Omani crude in January-October 1997, against 44.805 mm barrels in the same period in 1996.
