Apr. 8, 1998 The first vice-premier Boris Nemtsov reported that as of April 1, 1998 Russian companies will not have to pay oil-transportation fees. He said that the government also prepares important decisions regarding support of Russian oil companies, which now face difficulties due to oil price fall at the world market. At present Transneft charges an average of 3,800 rbls for 1 km transportation of 1 ton of crude oil through its main pipelines.
Russian main pipelines are 47,200 km long.
