Azerbaijan and Norway discuss developing all-round co-operation

Apr 28, 1999 02:00 AM

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and a delegation of the Norwegian parliament's committee on power-engineering and the environment, headed by the secretary of the committee, Aud Blattman, discussed the possibilities for developing all-round co-operation between Azerbaijan and Norway during their meeting recently.
The question of the work of the Norwegian Statoil company in Azerbaijan after the unification of British Petroleum and Amoco was touched upon during the meeting. Blattman expressed the desire that more significant tasks would be set for this company, which has major possibilities. Statoil could be the operator of the project for the Alov field, and this would be a reliable guarantee for the long-term activity of this company in Azerbaijan.
Rasizade said that Azerbaijan is ready to examine any proposals concerning Statoil's work in Azerbaijan.
