Russia to increase capacity of oil pipelines to Novorossiysk and Tuapse.

May 12, 1999 02:00 AM

A Russian vice premier said that at a recent meeting of oil workers in Tuapse, in southern Russia, it was decided to increase the pumping capacity of two oil pipelines leading to Novorossiysk and Tuapse.
Vladimir Bulgak also said the meeting confirmed that two supplementary oil terminals in the ports of these two southern Russian cities should be built.
The participants decided to ponder the issue of constructing a new oil pipeline instead of using the one lying in Ukrainian territory because of huge charges for oil transit. Ukrainian oil charges are five times greater than Russian ones.
Also, talks with Turkmenia and Kazakhstan to negotiate the issue of transporting their oil through Russia will commence, the official said.
