Four consortia will submit bids July 15 for a contract to upgrade and modernise Uruguay's La Teja refinery, owned by state oil company Ancap, according to La Teja Refinery director Sergio Lattanzio.
The registered consortia are: Argentina's Techint and ABB; Spain's Tecnica Reunidas with Brazil's Odebrecht; Foster Wheeler and Iberia; and South Korea's LG with CPC.
The winner will be announced in October and construction should take approximately 22 months, Lattanzio added.
The project is expected to cost $ 100 mm and comprises the expansion of La Teja's production from 37,000 bpd through the construction of a new 12,000 bpd regeneration unit, a 6,000 bpd isomerisation unit and a 18,000 bpd hydro-treatment plant.
The winner will also increase the refinery's gasoline production level to 50,000 bpd and its cracking unit capacity from 9,000 bpd to 13,000 bpd. Ancap will consider technical specifications and the economic feasibility to select the winner.
Lattanzio added that the expansion forms part of Ancap's plan to increase unleaded gasoline sales to Argentina.
