Repsol-YPF considering alliance with Enap in Chilean oil refining
Repsol-YPF is considering developing projects along with Enap as part of an overall strategy to maintain its 90 %
share of the Chilean oil refining market.
According to a report in El Mercurio newspaper, one of these projects consists of building an oil pipeline between
Argentina and Chile to export oil products. The pipeline may be further expanded towards Peru and Ecuador.
Analysts say that Repsol may not be interested in that market due to both Enap's high competitiveness level and the
small business generated in Chile. The Chilean fuels sale market is controlled by Copec, Shell, Esso, while YPF holds
just 5 %.
