Comgas investing to become largest gas distribution company in Latin America
The Brazilian gas distribution company Comgas, privatised in April and under majority control of British Gas (70 %)
and Shell (26 %), is restructuring and modernising. With investments of R$ 70 mm in 1999, and R$ 140 mm planned for
2000.
The goal is to turn Comgas in the largest gas distribution company in Latin America within the next five years. The
company wants to grow customers from the current 307,000 to 1 mm by 2003, selling 3.5 mm cm of gas.
Modernisation includes $ 6 mm investments in automation implementing the SAP R3 ERP software, and $ 2.5 mm to tackle
the Y2K bug.
