New thermoelectric plants will be built throughout Brazil
According to the Brazilian electric utility holding Eletrobras, the main natural gas-fired thermoelectric plants
construction projects break down as follows:
Pecem plant in Ceara, 240 MW;
Cosern's in Rio Grande do Norte, 100 MW;
Termopernambuco plant in Pernambuco, 240 MW;
Termobahia in Bahia, 280 MW;
Igarape in Minas Gerais, 255 MW;
Capixaba in Espirito Santo, 150 MW;
plant in Rio de Janeiro, 720 MW;
BTB's in Rio de Janeiro, 501 MW;
Paulinia in Sao Paulo, 600 MW;
RPBC's in Sao Paulo, 800 MW;
Sao Paulo I and II in Sao Paulo, 900 MW;
Uruguaiana in Rio Grande do Sul, 600 MW;
Joinville in Santa Catarina, 600 MW;
Araucaria in Parana, 444 MW;
Campo Grande in Mato Grosso do Sul, 120 MW and 300 MW;
Cuiaba in Mato Grosso, 480 MW;
Porto Velho in Rondonia, 480 MW;
Acre, 48 MW;
and Manaus in Amazonas, 666 MW.
The Termopernambuco plant will be built by Asea brown Boveri, Chesf, Gaspetro and Eletrobras, demanding initial investments of $ 200 mm.
