Shell considering to expand in the Middle East

Aug 13, 1999 02:00 AM

Shell is considering a move into the Kuwaiti, Iranian and Saudi Arabian upstream markets according to the managing editor of "Shell in the Middle East," Patrick Briggs. The company already has ventures in the Middle East in the exploration and production sectors in Oman, Egypt, Syria and Abu Dhabi, with Saudi Aramco.
Mr Briggs says: " What we have never had is an upstream interest in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran. From a strategic point of view, we would be interested in that market, provided we have something to offer to our partners. Our ambition is to satisfy needs of our partners technology, investment and project management, to name a few."
