Williams completes purchase of Gulf Coast terminals from Amerada Hess

Aug 03, 1999 02:00 AM

A unit of Williams has completed the purchase of three storage and distribution terminals from Amerada Hess. The terminals, in Houston, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Marrero, La., have marine, pipeline, rail and truck loading and unloading capabilities. Total storage capacity of crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals is approximately 13.3 mm barrels.
The three terminals give Williams a total of 72 throughout the United States. Forty of the terminals are located on Williams' 9,000-mile refined products pipeline system in the Midwest. The remaining 32, including the three former Hess terminals, are as far west as Phoenix, Ariz., and as far east as Richmond, Va., along third-party pipelines.
Jay Wiese, Williams' director of terminal services, said, "These are large-scale, high-volume facilities that provide key outlets in our virtual supply network. Williams is creating a supply, storage and distribution network that provides our customers immediate access to refined products across multiple U.S. markets, regardless of where their actual barrels are located.
