Peru and Bolivia agree to build pipeline connecting La Paz and Ilo

Aug 30, 1999 02:00 AM

The governments of Peru and Bolivia have agreed to go on with a $ 200 mm project to set up liquefied refinery gas pipeline connecting La Paz (Bolivia) and Ilo (Peru), and decided to pass it on to a private company to be selected by the Bolivian government.
Potential buyers of the gas pumped by the pipeline would be in Chile and Ecuador. On the other hand Peru has a deficit of 50 % in the domestic supply/demand balance, corresponding to imports of 3,000 bpd. The pipeline is designed for 400 km, of which 300 km in the Peruvian territory, and capacity for 10 - 15,000 bpd.
