Mexican electricity sector to increase natural gas consumption by 19.3 % a year
The Mexican electricity sector will increase its consumption of natural gas by 19.3 % a year as it grows from 16.8 bn
cm in 1998 to 45.5 bn by the year 2007, announced the Energy Secretariat.
Gas consumption is expected to grow the most in the Gulf coast and north Mexico because of the growth of economic and
productive activities in those areas and the relative facility of supply, and consumption will be stimulated both by
conversion of existing power plants as well as building new ones that are gas fired from the beginning.
