Russia reports on petroleum product imports in H1

The Russian State Statistics Committee announced on August 21 that some 369,000 metric tons of refined petroleum products had been imported in the first half of 1999.
In the first half of 1998, by contrast, some 2.636 million metric tons of fuel were imported into Russia. Accordingly, petroleum products accounted for only 0.4% of Russian imports in the first half of this year, down from 2.1% in the same period of 1998.
The committee noted that some 243,200 metric tons of fuel worth $ 21.5 million had been purchased from members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) while 125,800 metric tons of fuel worth $ 38.2 million had been purchased from non-CIS countries.
