Amerada Hess confirms Garden Banks Block 200 find

Amerada Hess Corporation announced that the Garden Banks Block 200 Well No. 3, drilled to a total depth of 14,500 feet to evaluate early Pleistocene "CRIS S" reservoir sands, encountered 121 feet of net gas pay in three sands below 12,000 feet. This is a confirmation well to the Garden Banks Block 200 Well #1 discovery drilled by Amerada Hess in 1998. Development scenarios are being evaluated.
Garden Banks Block 200 is located 125 miles offshore Louisiana in approximately 1,750 feet of water.

Amerada Hess Corporation owns a 50 % interest in Garden Banks 200. Its partners, Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corporation has a 25 % interest and Petrobras America Inc. has a 25 % interest. Amerada Hess Corporation is the operator.
