Irish gas monopoly, Bord Gais has announced plans to build a second undersea gas pipeline with the U.K. and a further pipeline to link cities in the Irish Republic with Europe. By the year 2002, a domestic pipeline will be built to deliver gas to 12 urban areas including Galway and Shannon.
The Dublin-based company claims the demand for natural gas is set to double over the next 10 years. By the year 2025, Bord Gais says it will have invested the equivalent of $ 1.37 bn to meet gas demands which have surged from a consumption of 110 bn cf since 1998.
