Germany's Siemens is leading a group of companies building the largest coal-fired power plant in Turkey, a 1,300 MW twin generator facility valued at $ 1.45 bn.
Babcock Borsig Power of Germany and Gama-Tekfen of Turkey will join Siemens Power Generation Group in building the plant near Iskenderun, a southern Turkish coastal city. It is scheduled for completion in 2003 and will be fuelled with imported coal. Siemens' power group also built a gas and steam power plant in Turkey during the early 1990s.
