Hydrogen Burner Technology and Gaz de France sign agreement

Jul 26, 2000 02:00 AM

Hydrogen Burner Technology (HBT) announced that Gaz de France has signed an agreement to distribute HBT's on-site hydrogen generating system throughout Europe. The agreement also expands Gaz de France's ongoing support in the development of HBT's commercial and industrial products.
Additionally, Gaz de France has made a substantial, undisclosed, equity investment in HBT. The two parties signed the agreement as they attended the Fuel Cell 2000 conference in Lucerne, Switzerland.
David Moard, president of HBT said, "As HBT's products have come into market position, Gaz de France has maintained a serious interest. They now bring their considerable capabilities and assets to promote the commercial applications of our on-site hydrogen generations systems."
The agreement calls for Gaz de France to distribute and provide components, spare parts and warranty services for HBT's systems in Europe. "The costly supply of hydrogen to industrial users in Europe offers excellent opportunities for these simple on-site systems, and this agreement accelerates their introduction into our best potential market," added Moard. "Gaz de France has maintained a close relationship with HBT since the early introduction of our technology and recently contributed to commercial testing of the new model 4200 NG-A system.
One of the interests of Gaz de France is natural gas for transportation and natural gas filling stations. The use of natural gas to generate hydrogen on-site for powering fuel cell vehicles is an adjunct of this relationship.

Hydrogen Burner Technology (HBT) manufactures on-site hydrogen generators for industrial markets and stationary and transportation hydrogen processors for the fuel cell market. HBT's breakthrough products are built around its patented Underoxidised Burner (UOB (TM)) technology.

Gaz de France serves more than 11-mm customers with natural gas and has operations in 20 countries. Founded more than 50 years ago, Gaz de France is a world leader in all fields of natural gas handling, storage and distribution.
