Petrobras to anticipate construction of 10 thermal electric facilities

Petrobras is to invest a R$ 500 mm to anticipate the construction of 10 thermal electric facilities, informed its director of Petrobras Mr. Delcidio do Amaral Gomes. The facilities were included in the priority programme and are to start operations in 2001.
Meanwhile, according to the industry association Aneel (Agencia Nacional de Energia), investments for 2000 in the year electric power generating segment are to reach R$ 3.8 bn, while power transportation R$ 2.7 bn, and distribution R$ 1.7 bn, and general installations others R$ 400 mm investments.
The overall investments in the sector is to reach a R$ 10.7 bn in 2000, R$ 10.1 bn in 2001 and 2002, and will decrease to R$ 7 bn in 2003, and to R$ 6.1 bn in 2004. In 1998 and 1999 the sector received investments of $ 15.7 bn and $ 12.7 bn respectively.
