Uruguayan president gives green light for UTE investment projects

The Uruguayan president Jorge Batlle has given green light for the investment projects of the electric major UTE, that include:
-- an agreement with Panamerican Energy and British Gas for the natural gas price of Gasoducto del Sur pipeline involving the payment of $ 22 mm annual from 2004 onwards;
-- the erection of a 140 - 160 MW power plant in Paysandu;
-- a partnership with two multinational companies to set up a 800 MW power plant in Paysndy and a transportation line to export energy to Brazil generating $ 230 mm.
UTE is issuing the tender for the construction of the Paysandu 140 MW plant and also the investment for the revamping of a power generating unit at Batlle plant.
