Geologists discover deposit of natural gas in Sea of Azov

Jul 24, 2000 02:00 AM

Geologists have discovered a promising deposit of natural gas in the Sea of Azov, 10 km from the Ukrainian Kerchenskiy peninsula. According to estimates, $ 12 mm will be needed to develop the deposit, and this amount will be recovered in two years of exploitation of the borehole.
Specialists' estimate is that gas resources on the Azov Sea shelf exceed 320 bn cm. But geologists of the Yuzhekogeotsentr have asserted that this amount is not comparable with the gas deposits on the Black Sea shelf, especially those in deep water.
