The UES of Russia national electric utility and three Japan's energy corporations are planning to construct two power stations on the far eastern island of Sakhalin within a $ 12 bn energy bridge project.
UES of Russia head Anatoly Chubais arrives to the island to attend the presentation of the project by his company. The regional administration told one station would be fuelled by local coal, the other will consume gas produced on the island's shelf. The project named Sakhalin-Japan energy bridge includes laying underwater cable between Sakhalin and Hokkaido.
