LUKoil to double investments in Arkhangelsk region next year

LUKoil plans to invest 5 bn roubles in the Arkhangelsk region's economy in 2001, compared to 2.5 bn roubles invested in 2000, said Vagit Alekperov, the company's president. Alekperov went on to say that his company is ready to make free fuel oil supplies to the region if United Energy Systems (UES) agrees to supply electricity generated using that fuel oil to western Siberia, where LUKoil is conducting active operations.
