Iranian engineers finish building gas works facility in Turkmenistan

Feb 04, 2001 01:00 AM

Iranian engineers have finished building a gas works facility at Korpedje in Turkmenistan. The new facility will have a daily capacity of 28 mm cm of gas with an expansion potential of up to 33 mm cm. The Korpedje works is part of the $ 190 mm project designed to supply Turkmenistani gas to Iran.

Gas is currently pumped across the Turkmenistani-Iranian border through a 135 km, 104-mm pipeline, with 35 % of supplies made in repayment for the above project. So far, this pipeline offers Turkmenistan its only chance to export gas without relying on Russian pipelines.
