Turkey reports on Iran trade volume in 2000

Turkey's State Statistic Organization reported that Iran-Turkey trade volume stood at $ 888.018 mm in the first 11 months of year 2000. A report added that the figure was $ 676.040 mm over the same period in 1999, registering a $ 202 mm rise in 2000. Over the period, Turkey's exports to Iran surpassed $ 207.770 mm against $ 142.894 mm in the same period in 1999.
In addition, the report stated that Turkey's imports from Iran was $ 680.248 mm over the same period in 2000, or $ 533.146 mm higher than in 1999. It added that the Turkey's exports to Iran stood at $ 13.187 mm and its imports from Iran stood at $ 51.253 mm in November 2000.

The figures were $ 17.721 mm and $ 78.436 mm, for Turkey's exports to and imports from Iran, respectively, in November 1999. Bilateral trade surpassed $ 800 mm in 1999 posting a $ 166 mm increase compared to 1998. Oil price increase constitutes, a large portion of the boost in the two countries' volume of trade in 2000. Observers reckon that with the start of Iranian gas deliveries to Turkey in summer bilateral trade between the two countries will drastically rise this year.
