Nigeria releases new guidelines for oil service companies

The Nigerian Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), has released a set of new guidelines governing the registration of oil service companies. The new guidelines affect those companies that engage in drilling, major construction, exploration, pipeline production, marine surveys, diving and dredging, and pressure testing, which are classified under a special category.

Procedures to be followed for the registration process include the submission of information on a company's expertise and technical know-how, details of turnover, preceding year's accident status, and ratios of expatriate to Nigerian personnel. The fee to be paid for the registration under the special category is N 250,000 annually.
