IOU reports on Iran's oil production

17-0701 Italian Oil Union reported that the Iranian oil production registered a 6.4 % growth in the first-quarter of the year 2001 compared with the same period in the year before. An official with the Italian Oil Union told that Iran's average production stood at 3.750 mm bpd in the first-quarter of 2001.
He said the Iranian crude production dipped to 3.650 mm bpd in April, adding that Iran ranks third in the OPEC in terms of rate of growth in crude production. Nigeria, and Venezuela with production increases of 13 % and 7.6 % ranked first and second, respectively, in the first quarter of the year compare to the same period in the year before.

On the average, Nigeria and Venezuela produced 2.17 mm bpd and 2.99 mm bpd in the first quarter of 2001. Previously in June, An IOU official said that Iran produced 3.73 mm bpd on average in the period January-February, 2001. Iran's daily crude oil production in the first two months of the year showed 7 % growth compared to the figure for the same period the year before.
