Sep 06, 2001 02:00 AM

Even though the federal government has recognized that the Pidiregas scheme is no longer viable for investments in the energy sector, Pemex has spent 21.629 bn pesos on project under Pidiregas so far this year. The Energy ministry said that Pemex exploration and production projects absorbed 64.6 % of those resources, and the rest went into the reconfiguration and modernization of the National Refinery System.

In the 2001 federal budget, Pemex was authorized 56.868 bn pesos for strategic projects to be financed through Pidiregas, said Energy Minster Ernesto Martens. In 2001, Pemex will receive $ 35.676 bn from the federal government, 5.1 % more than in 2000.
