Enersis to invests in Chile
According to the general manager of Enersis, the company will invest $ 200 mm in Chile, $ 100 mm will be used in the construction of the hydroelectric plant Ralco at BioBio River, 450 km south of Santiago. The company would invest between $ 500 to 600 mm in Latin America; this amount does not include acquisitions Enersis plans to make in Brazil and Mexico.
Currently, Enersis' head-quarters are in Santiago and it has subsidiaries in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Chile. In the year 2000 Enersis invested $ 1,300 mm, while in the year 2001 the investments have been concentrated on the construction of a second transmission line with a 1,000 MW capacity that will transport electricity from Argentina to Brazil, and construction of a 350 MW central in Ceara, Brazil.
