Uzen deposit rehabilitation expected to require about $ 1.1 bn

Sep 18, 2001 02:00 AM

About $ 1.1 bn is needed to rehabilitate Uzen, the second largest deposit in Kazakhstan after the Tengiz deposit. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has recently granted a $ 109 mm credit for this purpose. $ 30 mm has already been used to import new equipment from Halliburton.
Rehabilitation efforts are constantly under way at the deposit, which yielded 3.3 mm tons of oil in August of 2001, a slight increase over the previous months.
