Chile reports on power generation

Electricity generation in Chile increased 2.9 % in July 2001 compared to June, totalling 3,490 GWh, statistics agency INE reported.
Hydroelectric plants generated 2,084 GWh, an increase of 9.2 % on June, combined-cycle thermal plants provided 804 GWh (a 9 % increase) and other thermal plants accounted for 602 GWh (a 0.3 % increase).
The central grid (SIC) generated 2,541 GWh, (72.8 % of the total), the northern grid (SING) generated 718 GWh (20.6 %), and isolated systems 231 GWh (6.6 %). From January to July this year accumulated generation was 24,083 GWh, a 3.6 % increase on January-July 2000, when it was 23,235 GWh.

July 2001 generation increased 0.5 % in total from July 2000, with a 9.3 % increase in hydroelectric generation, 39.6 % in combined-cycle thermoelectric generation and a reduction of 39.1 % at other thermal plants.
