Iran reports on production and consumption

The Ministry of Energy announced that more than 1.8 t boe was produced in 2000. "From the total production, crude oil constituted some 77.6 %, natural gas 21.6 %, electricity 0.3 % while the rest were solid, non-commercial and renewable fuels," a ministry report was quoted as saying.
During the same year, the country's total gasoline consumption reached 15.5 bn litres, 1.3 bn litres higher compared to the preceding year. In 2000, the volume of oil derivative imports stood at 15.4 mm boe, 65.7 % more than the 1999 figure.

The report further noted that the total energy consumption of the country in 2000 was registered at 670.2 mm boe, 56.9 % of which were oil derivatives, 32.9 natural gas, 8.4 electricity and 1.8 % were solid and non-commercial fuels. It put Iran's production and export of crude oil during the same year at 1,369.6 and 901.1 mm barrels respectively, which was in line with Iran's quota fixed by the 11-nation OPEC.
