Birla Technical Services (BTS), a CK Birla Group entity, has tied up with ONGIO International, a joint venture between IOC and ONGC, and New Oilfield and Allied Services of Nigeria (NOAS), in a bid to tap the Nigerian petrochemicals market. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed by the executive vice-president of BTS B.S. Girla and ONGIO managing director Jatinder Peters, the consortium will enter the Nigerian market in the upstream and downstream hydrocarbon sectors.

Announcing the tie-up, Girla said "The thrust areas will be to utilise the predominant expertise of ONGIO's promoter companies, ONGC and IOC, for tapping the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. GAIL and EIL are also expected to join as promoters of ONGIO."
The consortium would also take up assignments in various fields, including seismic data processing and interpretation, well control and production process simulation, operation, refinery improvement studies, refinery turnaround maintenance and safety and training of Nigerian personnel.
