Shell Uganda launches environmental protection awareness campaign

Shell Uganda Limited has started an environmental protection awareness campaign from the grassroots, officials have said. Officials have stepped up efforts to eliminate use of charcoal especially in the urban areas.

"We are targeting market places, homes, schools, and hospitals," the company's Commercial and LPG Manager Chris Bayisa said.

Bayisa was speaking at the official launch of the 6 kg camping gas cylinder at Shell Bugolobi. He said Shell gas has worked out the best possible solution to tree cutting by introducing the gas system. Shell also introduced the two burner stove convenient for cooking.

Fred Masadde Kabuye, Shell's Brand and Communications Manager said that this campaign would be countrywide targeting mainly the rural people.
