ChevronTexaco to upgrade facilities in Nigeria

Texaco Nigeria, has disclosed that it has earmarked $ 340 mm to upgrade its facilities in Nigeria. The oil company in its latest edition of its in-house journal said the money would be expanded on the installation of improved equipment and safety devices to reduce the risk of oil spills in its operational areas.

The company, according to the newsletter decided to commit the amount as a result of its determination to conduct oil exploration in a safe condition.
"ChevronTexaco assured that this resolve to operate in an environmentally-sensitive manner was irrevocable, adding that its efforts in that regard had been recognised in both the Nigerian Conservative Foundation and the Federal Ministry of Environment."
"Chevron is proud of its efforts in conducting its operations in an environmentally sensitive manner and, over the past few years, both the Nigerian Conservative Foundation and Federal Environmental Protection Agency, among others concerned with the environment, have recognised these efforts."
"Chevron integrates environmental protection into every aspect of its activities wherever it operates, and employs high environmental standards throughout its world wide operations.
"The company s policy-protecting people and the environment-emphasis safe operations, compliance, pollution, pollution prevention and community programmes. In recent times, Chevron has been engaged in the significant upgrade of its production facilities, including the installation of improved equipment to reduce discharges and reduce the risk of oil spills. This project will be completed soon at the cost of $ 340 mm."

Meanwhile, 92 students have graduated at the forth graduation of the NNPC/Chevron Technical Skills Acquisition Programme (TSAP).
