Japan reports on crude oil processing

In January, crude oil processing at Japanese refineries dropped 4.5 % from a year earlier to 21.47 mm kiloliters, or 4.36 mm bpd, and falling for the fourth consecutive month. Japan's dependency on Middle Eastern crudes in January was 87 %, down from 91.7 % in the previous month.

Domestic crude oil supplies to electric power utilities for direct-burning at thermal power generation totaled 333,547 kiloliters, or 2.10 mm barrels, in January, down 46 % from a year ago. METI said data on the refinery utilization ratio for January isn't available yet.
