Algeria increases gas transmissions to Europe
Pipeline transmissions of gas from Algeria to Europe have surged by more than 70 % to 30.9 bn cm between the years
1995 and 2001.
During the same time, total international trade in pipeline gas has risen by nearly 40 %.
Algeria sits atop 3.7 tcm gas reserves and is currently exporting over 60 bn cmpy of gas.
Algeria supplies one quarter of the EU’s gas imports. The main pipelines are the TransMed link to Italy and the
Mahgreb-Europe line to Spain. Oil and gas products represent 95 % of Algeria’s exports.
