Azerbaijan plans to sell natural gas to Greece

President of Azerbaijani state-owned oil company Natik Aliyev said in Baku that Azerbaijan plans to deliver natural gas to Greece. Aliyev said he had talks in Athens with senior Greek officials on sale of natural gas to that country from Shah Deniz deposits.
Aliyev said that also Italy and other European countries may purchase Azerbaijani gas, which is supposed to be pumped to Europe through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum pipeline, projected to be completed in 2006.

Azerbaijani gas is supposed to join through Turkish pipes to Greek network. Aliyev said Azerbaijan could supply up to 1.5 bn cm of gas to Greece in 2007.
